My mom took an epic road trip to Alaska and wrote a book about it . . . in her native tongue. I know that one day, I'll want to read it and so I'm trying to re-learn the language. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time grasping it despite being a former native speaker.
I also took an introductory class in Vietnamese. This language has so many different tones, inflections and accents, all of which changes the meaning of the word, that I'm completely baffled at how anyone can keep track of them.
Then I stumbled upon Google Translate. If you're trying to learn another language, then you'll find this extremely useful. Numerous languages have recordings of word pronunciations that you can listen too. This is a godsend for Vietnamese and other tonal languages. Got to add this tool to my inventory.
